Until recently, a diagnosis of hepatitis C left patients looking at a bleak future of possible liver failure or cancer if they didn’t make serious lifestyle changes or receive a liver transplant. But many New Zealanders are finding a new outlook on life thanks to the public funding of new antiviral drugs, that can actually cure hepatitis C. Pharmacists are front and centre in providing the new treatments. Pharmacy Today reporter Nerine Zoio looks into the treatment’s progress one year on from it being funded
