THE PHARMACY COUNCIL will be increasing its annual practising certificate fee and disciplinary levy by 4.1 per cent this year.

The pharmacy sector has been shaken by news of an incredibly high failure rate for intern pharmacists last year. Jonathan Chilton-Towle reports 

HEALTH MINISTER ANDREW LITTLE says that, while the interns who failed the Assessment Centre will be disappointed, the test is critical for maintaining safe pharmacy practice.

A PHARMACY COUNCIL Professional Conduct Committee will lay a charge against pharmacist Shane Chafin with the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal, Pharmacy Today understands. 

The Pharmacy Guild says the Pharmacy Council should not increase its annual practising certificate fee by more than 3 per cent, while PSNZ is asking for more transparency on why the fee needs to increase.

The Pharmacy Council will increase the Annual Practising Certificate (APC) and Disciplinary Levy for the recertification year beginning 1 April 2023 by 4.1% being the minimum required to successfully deliver the outcomes of the thirteen regulatory functions required of it under s118 of the HPCAA.
